Mais uma edição (a vigésima terceira) do JazzFest em Munique que me levou ver o "Ochepovsky Project" da República Checa, uma banda que à terceira tentativa conseguiu materializar esta parceria com outros festivais e promotores de jazz. O espaço "Blitz Club" era também novo para mim, embora totalmente concebido para uma movida da noite foi com supresa que vi o som ser cuidado com mestria (foram 3 bandas com ambientes e estéticas totalmente diferentes nesta noite) e numa acústica superior num palco aparentemente curto para 7 músicos (faltou o Violoncelista anunciado).

A primeira coisa que me fica deste concerto é a alegria e pujança desta banda, simplesmente poderosos em toda a sua linha. Superiormente liderados pelo guitarrista que dá o nome ao grupo numa guitarra e computador que instalavam sonoridades de ambientes modernos e espaciais, depois o resto da banda aparecia e crescia sem qualquer pudor.

Num registo a oscilar entre o Jazz e o R&B o duo te metais vigoroso encantava a cada nota, a secção rítmica suportava os devaneios e epifanias constantes de cada um dos elementos. Por sua vez o teclista construia uma malha que aninhava toda a gente. Depois chegou a vocalista que varreu todo o público com uma presença simplesmente incrível.

Another edition (the twenty-third) of the JazzFest in Munich took me to see the "Ochepovsky Project" from the Czech Republic, a band that has managed at the third attempt to materialise this partnership with other jazz festivals and promoters. The venue "Blitz Club" was also new to me, and although it was completely designed for a late-night event, I was surprised to see that the sound was masterfully taken care of (there were 3 bands with completely different atmospheres and aesthetics that night) and with excellent acoustics on a seemingly short stage for 7 musicians (the announced cellist was missing).

The first thing that stayed with me from this concert was the joy and power of this band, simply powerful throughout. Led by the guitarist who gave the group its name, on guitar and computer, creating modern, spacey ambient sounds, then the rest of the band appeared and grew unashamedly.

In a register oscillating between jazz and R&B, the vigorous brass duo enchanted with every note, and the rhythm section supported the constant reveries and epiphanies of each of the members. The keyboardist, meanwhile, built a mesh that nestled everyone in. Then came the vocalist, who swept the whole audience with a simply incredible presence.

Eine weitere Ausgabe (die 23.) des JazzFest München führte mich zum "Ochepovsky Project" aus der Tschechischen Republik, einer Band, die es im dritten Anlauf geschafft hat, diese Partnerschaft mit anderen Jazzfestivals und Veranstaltern zu realisieren. Der Veranstaltungsort "Blitz Club" war auch für mich neu, und obwohl er ganz auf eine Veranstaltung zu später Stunde ausgelegt war, war ich überrascht, dass der Sound meisterhaft gepflegt wurde (an diesem Abend traten drei Bands mit völlig unterschiedlicher Atmosphäre und Ästhetik auf) und die Akustik auf einer scheinbar kleinen Bühne für sieben Musiker (der angekündigte Cellist fehlte) hervorragend war.

Das erste, was mir von diesem Konzert in Erinnerung blieb, war die Freude und der Elan dieser Band, die einfach durch und durch stark war. Zunächst angeführt von dem Gitarristen, der der Gruppe ihren Namen gab, mit einer Gitarre und einem Computer, der moderne, spacige Ambient-Sounds erzeugt, tritt der Rest der Band auf und wächst schamlos.

Zwischen Jazz und R&B oszillierend, verzauberte das kraftvolle Bläserduo mit jedem Ton, und die Rhythmusgruppe unterstützte die ständigen Träumereien und Epiphanien der einzelnen Mitglieder. Der Keyboarder wiederum knüpfte ein Netz, in das sich alle einfügten. Und dann kam die Sängerin, die mit einer unglaublichen Präsenz das ganze Publikum mitriss.

Ein unvergesslicher Abend in München!
