Der Kurt Maas Jazz Award 2025 feierte das außergewöhnliche Finale im Saal X des Gasteig HP8 in München. Dieser renommierte, seit 2013 alle zwei Jahre verliehene Preis wird vom Jazz-Institut der Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (HMTM) organisiert und fördert talentierte Jazz-Studierende der Hochschule, während er gleichzeitig das Vermächtnis des verstorbenen Musikers und Pädagogen Kurt Maas ehrt.
Die diesjährigen Finalisten waren Adél Kövécs (Klavier im Trio), Edi May (Saxophon im Quartett), Benjamin Stadler (Trompete im Sextett), Fernanda von Sachsen (Gesang im Quartett) und Katharina Pfeifer (Saxophon im Trio).
Fernanda von Sachsen gewann den ersten Preis, ein fünf Wochen langes Sommerstudium am Berklee College of Music in Boston. Der zweite Preis, ein vierwöchiges Praktikum in Brasilien, ging an Edi May. Der dritte Preis, ein Konzert im Night Club des Hotels Bayerischer Hof in München, wurde an Katharina Pfeifer verliehen.
Die Gewinner werden am 4. Juli 2025 beim Abschlusskonzert in der Isarphilharmonie im Gasteig HP8 auftreten.Hier sind meine Eindrücke ihrer Auftritte in einer Minute. Vielen Dank an alle für die Musik! 🎶✨

The Kurt Maas Jazz Award 2025 celebrated its extraordinary final at Saal X in Gasteig HP8, Munich. This prestigious biennial award, established in 2013 and organized by the Jazz Institute of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (HMTM), aims to promote the institution’s talented jazz students while honoring the legacy of the late musician and educator Kurt Maas.
This year's finalists were Adél Kövécs (piano in a trio), Edi May (saxophone in a quartet), Benjamin Stadler (trumpet in a sextet), Fernanda von Sachsen (vocals in a quartet), and Katharina Pfeifer (saxophone in a trio).
Fernanda von Sachsen won the first prize, a five-week summer course at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The second prize, a four-week internship in Brazil, was awarded to Edi May. The third prize, a concert at the Night Club of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, was given to Katharina Pfeifer.
The winners will have the opportunity to perform at the awards concert on July 4, 2025, at the Isarphilharmonie in Gasteig HP8. Here are my impressions of their performances in one minute. Thanks to everyone for the music! 🎶✨

O Kurt Maas Jazz Award 2025 celebrou a extraordinária final no Saal X do Gasteig HP8, em Munique. Este prestigiado prémio bienal, desde 2013, é organizado pelo Jazz Institut da Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (HMTM), com o objetivo de promover os talentosos estudantes de jazz da instituição e homenagear o legado do falecido músico e educador Kurt Maas.
Os finalistas deste ano foram Adél Kövécs (piano em trio), Edi May (saxofone em quarteto), Benjamin Stadler (trompete em sexteto), Fernanda von Sachsen (voz em quarteto) e Katharina Pfeifer (saxofone em trio).
O primeiro prémio, um curso de verão de cinco semanas no Berklee College of Music em Boston, foi atribuído a Fernanda von Sachsen. O segundo prémio, um estágio de quatro semanas no Brasil, foi para Edi May. O terceiro prémio, um concerto no Night Club do Hotel Bayerischer Hof em Munique, foi para Katharina Pfeifer.
